  • For the past 25 years, Chad Hall has been a sales executive within the electrical industry. He founded Trifecta in 2017 with a focused line card of commodity products and total dedication to customer service and accountability. As the industry has evolved and consolidated, Chad has decided to merge Trifecta with Visual Interest to become VI Supply.

Visual Interest is a lighting rep agency founded in 2009, historically focusing on lighting project business. VI has experienced sales staff calling on distributors, contractors, engineers, and architects throughout the territory. In merging with Visual Interest, we have added (14) salespeople to grow Trifecta’s supply representation.

With Melissa, Tim and Chad joining the larger VI team, VI Supply will hit the ground running with no gaps in service for our customer base. The VI organization is made up of 62 people, with resources provided for HR, accounting, IT, finance, and marketing, which allows the VI Supply team to focus on growing relationships and sales in the commodities market.

The Playing Field:

VI Supply provides coverage in Colorado, Southern Wyoming, Western Nebraska, New Mexico, and West Texas. We have brick-and-mortar offices in Denver, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, and El Paso, and our sales force regularly calls on distribution in remote regions these large states.

The Playbook:

  • The merge provides a marriage between Trifecta’s historical strength with small and medium-sized distributors, and Visual Interest’s strong relationships with large distributors. This blend will ensure that our manufacturers receive attention from all distributors in our markets.

  • VI has a dedicated sales team calling on contractors, with strong existing relationships and a history of success on lighting project business. Many project opportunities are negotiated at the contractor level, while maintaining good communication with distribution, and we plan to build upon this success with the following initiatives:

We will generate product demand from the top-down at the contractor level, which will result in stocking and project opportunities at distribution. Our goal is to add value to distributors by helping to generate business for them, while providing convenience for our contractor customers, and growing sales for us and our manufacturer partners. Win-win-win.

We plan offer incentives to the contractor and distributor to package commodities, lighting, and controls on projects.

  • VI has a long history of driving lighting and controls business at the specification level with engineers and architects. We have a seasoned specification sales team with strong existing relationships who can help drive sales to our new VI Supply division. While this does not translate to all sectors of the commodities market, we can add significant value for specification-focused manufacturers.

  • Visual Interest currently processes a high volume of lighting project business with all distributors, totaling millions of dollars of business per year. We are developing a concept for a distributor program, which incentivizes stocking distributors to become VI preferred partners on lighting project business.

WHY VI SUPPLY:

  • We have an in-house staff dedicated to analyzing data, so we can be a more effective sales organization. We utilize Tableau to provide data visualizations which help identify trends, manufacturer pipeline, and monitor customer & sales team performance.

  • Visual interest is unique in how we connect with our customers through fun and educational events. Our flagship is Sparklab, which are mini trade shows held throughout the year and throughout the territories.

  • VI invests in in-house development of digital tools to make us easier to do business with. Current web tools include Light Soup & the EZ Button, and our internal budget tool helps our inside teams more efficiently budget projects to Contractors & Distributors.

  • We are thrilled to be the only rep in the state of Colorado that is in ESOP.
