AURARIA HIGHER EDUCATION CAMPUS BEFORE & AFTER

The Auraria Higher Education project was a parking lot lighting upgrade from existing metal halide fixtures to new Visionaire LED VSX-1 Array series heads. Visual Interest’s Distributor Account Manager, Bobbi Gallardo, conducted the job walk with Peter Candelaria, the Project Manager of Facilities, of all 11 parking lots and determined the Visionaire VSX-1 Array series was the perfect solution. Ann Vigil, Visual Interest’s Director of Design, pulled Google Earth parking lot images and did her design magic. She calculated photometrics, reconfigured head mountings and dialed in distribution with lumen outputs to achieve best foot-candle consistency.

Fixtures were purchased from Visionaire in first part of January 2020, shipped mid-February 2020 and installed over next few months with Covid-19 in effect and completed mid-May 2020. Per VI’s direction, Visionaire shipped each fixture and labeled them accordingly by parking lot name for ease of install, making it easy for the facilities team to ensure heads were installed in correct location - due to different lumen outputs, distributions and directional shielding. As seen in the before and after photos, the LED retrofit using Visionaire VSX-1 achieve an even distribution of light, improving campus safety, aesthetic and energy use. Working collaboratively with Peter Candelaria, photographer Jake Holschuh, Visionaire and the Visual Interest team, yielded an impressive before and after project.
